Green hotels in Aalborg

Aalborg Airport Hotel

Aalborg Airport Hotel focuses on protecting the environment, especially when it comes to food sustainability. They are marked with the Bronze Organic Label, which means that 30-60% of their produce is organic and thereby comes from sustainable sources. Further, the hotel protects the environment by e.g. using a linen supplier (DFD) that has many ISO labels and by that the handling, cleaning and transport of the linens are largely environmentally friendly.

Best Western Scheelsminde

Best Western Scheelsminde’s work towards sustainability is, like many of the other hotels in Aalborg, a big part of their mission and values. For example, they use prioritise using sustainable suppliers, herein their linen supplier. Their linen supplier, for example, is DFD who have several ISO labels. By using them, they ensure that the management, cleaning and transportation of their linens are largely environmentally friendly.

CABINN Aalborg

While CABINN does not have any eco-labels they still follow an environmental policy, as sustainability is a large part of the CABINN concept. They focus much on lowering energy consumption, which they can easily achieve with their small and highly insulated rooms, only the necessary electrical appliances and light fixtures. Further, they focus on water conservation in the way they design their bathrooms. Other areas to mention, where CABINN focus on sustainability is using cleaning and washing products marked by the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, training staff in sustainability, etc.

Comwell Hvide Hus

Comwell Hvide Hus is a Green Key labelled hotel and by that emphasises sustainability as one of their core values and goals. The hotel is also marked with the Bronze Organic label, as well as the Refood label, which shows their hard work towards food waste and sustainable food sources. Food waste is just on among many focal areas, they also focus on sustainability in their housekeeping and spa (focussing on Swan labelled products), kitchen, restaurant and bar (focussing on organic food and food waste), waste (sorting, management and reduction), energy and resources (energy, water, and heat reduction).

First Hotel Aalborg

First Hotels in Denmark and thus First Hotel Aalborg are Green Key labelled hotels on environmental improvements in terms of waste management, water conservation and energy reduction. The Hotels in general seek to minimize negative influences to the environment and are therefore proud bearers and keepers of the Green Key label.

Helnan Phønix Hotel

Helnan Phønix Hotel is also taking action to protect the environment. For example, they plan business activities in ways that will minimise negative effects on the environment. That way, they support eco-sustainable development. The hotel also focuses on lowering their energy consumption in order to spare the environment. In this attempt, they have for example removed minibars in a number of their rooms, as they consume unnecessary energy. 

Kompas Hotel Aalborg

In November 2018, Hotel Aalborg will acquire the Green Key Label, for having taken extraordinary measures to protect and care for the environment. They have worked hard to fit label’s requirements by, for example, working with food waste initiatives, and by that promote the reuse of food.

Radisson Blu Limfjord Hotel, Aalborg

Radisson Hotel Group on a large scale see sustainability as an important element in their business. They seek to preserve natural resources on several areas. They work on carbon reduction, the ability to host green meetings, water conservation, minimizing waste, and responsible sourcing. The different actions they take to work on these goals are shown by being credited Eco-labels. The Radisson Blu Limfjord Hotel, Aalborg has worked hardly to achieve some of the core goals of the Radisson Hotel Group and have therefore received the Green Key Label for their actions.

Scandic Aalborg City and Scandic Aalborg Øst

All of Scandic’s hotels are marked with the Nordic Swan Ecolabel; therefore, their hotels in Aalborg are too. Further, Scandic’s fight against food waste is marked with the ReFood label and one way for them to assure reuse of food and minimise their food waste is to be a member of Too Good To Go. Further, Scandic’s coffee is UTZ-certified and many of their food choices in the breakfast buffet is organic.

One of Zleep Hotel’s values regard the importance of taking responsibility of the environment. We are all responsible of our world and we have to protect and value our natural resources. Therefore, Zleep Hotels work towards finding ways of reducing energy consumption and food waste. Further, they continuously try to improve the way that materials are recycled as well as using environmentally friendly products.

The hotel is also marked with the Bronze Organic label, as well as the Refood label, which shows their hard work towards food waste and sustainable food sources. Rold Storkro 

Rold Storkro values the protection of our global environment a lot and take sustainability very seriously. Already in 1998 they were credited the Green Key Label as a sign of their actions. They focus a great deal on energy reduction (they only buy CO2 neutral power), organic produce, using the Nordic Swan Labeled products for cleaning and use suppliers that also are concerned about the environment. For example, you when you buy a liter of water in their restaurant, you are drinking fresh spring water and when you do, you even support Unicef with 100 liters of clean water for children in the world.

Svanemærket
The Nordic Swan Label

Svanemærket is an official Danish eco-label that gives the consumer an indication of an environmentally friendly product and service. The label seeks to help the consumer choose these products and services, in order to lessen the consumer’s environmental strain.

UTZ-certification

UTZ certified products indicate “sustainable farming and better opportunities for farmers, their families and our planet”. The UTZ certification woks towards the protection of the environment and the earth’s natural resources.

Green Key label

Green Key is an International eco-label used in the tourist sector. Tourist companies can obtain this label if they make extra efforts to protect the environment. Extra measures could include making an effort against food waste, serving sustainable food, reducing energy, reducing water waste, etc.

ReFood label

The ReFood label signals businesses that make an effort against food waste and for recycling. In order to become a member, a business chooses three focal areas on which to reduce food waste.

Too Good To Go

The Too Good To Go App is a Danish initiative with a mission to reduce food waste, worldwide. It does this by allowing food businesses (restaurants, grocery stores, etc.) to sell their leftover food that will otherwise be thrown away.

Organic Cuisine Label

The Organic Cuisine Label is a state guaranteed label that indicates a kitchen/restaurant’s devotion to organic produce. Three labels exist to indicate to what extent a business is dedicated to organics: Bronze (30-60% organic produce), Silver (60-90% organic produce), and Gold (90-100% organic produce).
