Visit Hals Limfjorden

Limfjorden connects Kattegat and the Nord Sea

Limfjorden is a strait in Jutland that connects the North Sea with Kattegat and it bounds the island of Nørrejyske towards south. From around 1100 and until break through to the North Sea at Agger Tange on February 3, 1825, the waters were a fjord.
Limfjorden is 180 kilometers. The origin of the name is assumed to originate from the fact that ‘lim’ previously meant chalk – there is a visible surface of chalk near Aalborg.
The picture shows Limfjordsbroen – the bridge that connects Nørresundby and Aalborg.

Visit Hals Hals Egense Ferry

Catch a ferry – it’s only a 5 minutes trip

At the harbor of Hals where the fjord’s breadth is approximately 600 meter, one can sail to Himmerland with a 5 minutes trip on the Ferry.
Hals-Egense Ferry was established in 1961. Beforehand, it was not possible to get a car across the fjord. The ferries are quite small with room for 10 cars, but the trip is only 5 minutes. The ferries have been sailing over the fjord approximately one million times.

Evening walk with bonfire and cozy atmosphere

By Gaaser one can get close to the fjord and there is a possibility for great walks along the fjord. At Skiveren approximately 12 kilometers from Hals, a camp spot has been constructed just by the fjord side – this is ideal for an evening with bonfire and cozy atmosphere.
