The Rebild Festival
The site of the celebration is the beautiful Rebild National Park (20 kilometers south of Aalborg), presented to the Danish nation by Danish-Americans in 1912.
The Rebild Festival is an expression of gratitude to the land which welcomed more than 300,000 Danish immigrants, and the tradition has been maintained in order to strengthen the ties of friendship between the USA and Denmark.
Over the years, hundreds of thousands of Danish-Americans and others have joined with Danes in this celebration.
July 4th Celebrations in Rebild
The Stars and Stripes of USA and the Danish Dannebrog flag are flown side-by-side in a natural amphitheater in the hills of Rebild. Music, entertainment, community singing and speeches by prominent Americans and Danes are expressions of the bonds which unite the USA with Denmark.
Among others, Rebild speakers have included members of the Danish royal family and the former presidents of the United States of America, George Bush, Ronald Reagan and Richard Nixon.
Events in Aalborg
In the festive city of Aalborg (about 20 km. north of Rebild), there is an extensive program of events, including concerts, exhibitions, conducted tours and other events of special interest to American visitors.
