In September 2011 a fire damaged parts of Aalborg Maritime Museum. The museum is expected to reopen in June 2012.
A submarine on dry land Aalborg Maritime Museum offers an exciting look at the maritime world, spread out over 15,000 square meters of space. The exhibits give a view of life at sea, the Port of Aalborg and Aalborg Shipyard.
Peek inside an Aluette helicopter. The museum also boasts wooden ships and boats, such as ’Prinsesse-jollen’, the dinghy used by Queen Margrethe II when she learned to sail as the Crown Princess of Denmark. It used to be part of the ship’s inventory aboard the royal yacht, Dannebrog.
The maritime museum offers a broad collection of ship models, and outside, you can go aboard the submarine, Springeren, and the world’s fastest gas-turbine torpedo board, Søbjørnen.
To a great extent it is possible to touch and test the different exhibited objects.
It is also possible to get a glimpse of Aalborg in miniature format, as Aalborg Miniby (Danish) displays models of old houses in Aalborg.
Handicap facilities Ramps at the entrance, no door steps at the whole museum, wheel chairs and handicap toilets, visiting the boats is not possible. Guided tours in both Danish and English can be arranged.
Bus no. 12 and 13
