Nordkraft as a Culture Centre
Skråen is more than 25 years old, and today it is one of North Jutland’s most important music venues. As well as promoting roughly 300 contemporary music concerts a year, Skråen also presents a variety of outdoor shows in Kildeparken and Skovdalen. Skråen is located in Nordkraft, Aalborg’s old power station, and plays a major role in the creation of its new role as power centre for culture and leisure in Aalborg.

Huset in Hasserisgade
Husert is an intimate culture centre, but also one of the best places in Aalborg to hear live music. This contemporary music venue specialises in jazz, folk-rock, blues and world music. Huset also provides an open stage and helps develop special events targeted at particular user groups and music associations in Aalborg. There’s also a full programme of summer entertainment that includes Torsdagstræf on Thursdays, an electronic festival and Active Summer among many others.

Small Music Festivals in AalborgWay Up North A two-day festival at Studenterhuset with a focus on up-and-coming music in North Jutland. Over the years, it has acted as a launching pad for a large group of now well-established bands, including Figurines, Oh No Ono, The Blue Van, Thee Attacks, Mnemic, Tone etc. Upcode An electronic festival at Huset that first saw the light of day in 2005, when 16 different electronic artists, mainly from Aalborg, performed on Huset’s two stages in the courtyard and café. In the last three years Upcode has chosen instead to concentrate on 5 – 7 acts from all over Denmark. Band Battle Skråen’s annual festival and rock competition in which talented young performers from North Jutland “battle” to become this year’s new star.
