Beach houses in denmark -
- with the sun and the sand? Aren’t they something you rent on the west coast of Jutland?
Well, yes, you can rent them there, too! But Denmark’s second-biggest concentration of holiday houses lies on the east coast of Jutland. The locals call it The Mild Coast, and it stretches along the towns of Hals and Hou. A half-hour drive from Aalborg brings you to some 3,700 summer houses where Danes and hundreds of foreign tourists faithfully return, year after year.
And of course, 3,700 happy homeowners can’t be wrong, either. The Mild Coast is an ideal holiday destination for families, especially. The landscape is lush and gentle, and the beaches are far calmer on the Kattegat sea than on the west coast, where restless North Sea waves pound the shore. East coast beaches are more child-friendly, and inland lie deep forests, rolling hills, cow pastures and moors.

Exciting experiences just around the corner
The Mild Coast is a destination in itself, but renting a summer house there also provides a perfect base camp for exploring the exciting attractions of the dramatic North Jutland region. Skagen and the west coast, Rold Forest and Mariager all lie within an hour’s drive. And Aalborg, with its tourist attractions, shopping and events, is less than a half hour away.
The region offers castles and historical sites, with Voergård Castle and Hals Skanse at the top of the list. And dozens of art galleries and workshops are ready to welcome visitors. Admire the lovely country churches, and feel free to stop and look inside.
If you or your family don’t have time for a holiday house, you can also choose among numerous hotels, hostels, campgrounds and holiday resorts. You can even stay aboard a boat in the marinas of Hals or Hou.
