North Jutland
Aalborg is the capital of North Jutland and gateway to Denmark’s most popular holiday destination. There are more than 2,000 kilometres of coastline, the landscape is unique and the people of North Jutland are charming. Holidaymakers return again and again.
Nowhere in the region is more than a 1-hour drive from Aalborg. But it is not only the charming places and people we can recommend to groups, it also the various ways we can arrange your visit. On foot, bicycle or VIP coach. On horseback or horse carriage, on a Harley Davidson. We can even offer a fantastic helicopter trip.
Skagen
Skagen is the very end of the continent of Europe. You can drive all the way from southern Italy to Grenen in the north (well, almost), without crossing water.
The top of the continent and Skagen have a lot to offer. Its position between two seas lends Skagen a very special quality of light. This is one of the reasons the Skagen painters sought their inspiration here.
One very special experience is for guests to travel up to Grenen and to stand on the sand bank, right where two seas, the Kattegat and the Skagerrak, meet. Enhance this unique moment in the sand with champagne and strawberries served by formally dressed waiters.
At Skagen Museum you can experience the special light and the unique landscape again, this time through the eyes of Skagen’s many well-known painters – for example, Krøyer, Ancher and Drachmann.
Skagen Museum is also available for exclusive receptions, where guests are given the special treat of eating in the very room, in which Skagen’s artists took their meals and swapped innovative ideas.
Aalborg’s own Jørn Utzon has also left his mark here and designed a building in Skagen. In the Skagen Odde Nature Centre Jørn Utzon has cleverly allowed light to have its own life within this space, which can be used for smaller-scale conferences, kick-off events or for an untraditional get-together.
Finally, it is worth mentioning Skagen’s small, exclusive hotels. All are top class and rich in atmosphere. Wellness and excellent cuisine are among the many delights they offer.
Skagen Harbour, with its charming setting, is the home of one of Denmark’s few remaining fishing fleets. So it is of course fish that dominates the menu, when you enjoy a lunch or dinner in the excellent, intimate restaurants on the waterfront.

Lønstrup
Lønstrup is a small, authentic fishing village, located on the coast of the breath-taking North Sea. In this charming little village, unlike many other resorts on the west coast, you really get the impression that someone turned the clock back. The village still looks today like it did in previous centuries. But do not be deceived. The village’s inhabitants have used a lot of time and care restoring the old houses. Once the homes of fisher folk, they are now inhabited by artists and craftspeople, whose workshops give this delightful village its own special character.
The coast at Lønstrup is so rugged that there is no harbour, but that does not prevent the local fishermen from taking to the sea. An ingeniously constructed system allows them to drag their fishing boats up on to the beach, when they return to port after a fishing trip. The device also launches the boats into the sea. This spectacular feat is a particularly popular sight for the village’s many visitors.
Lønstrup has many restaurants, serving excellent food. Particularly good is Villa Vest. In addition to its inspirational fish dishes, it has a unique location at the top of the cliff with a stunning view down to the beach and the sea.
Be sure to make a stop for a particularly weird and wonderful sight - Mårup Church and Rubjerg Knude lighthouse. They are situated right next to one another on the edge of a dune on the outskirts of Lønstrup. Here you are reminded that nature is often more powerful than mankind. Rubjerg Knude lighthouse is a perfect example of this phenomenon. It has long since been concealed behind the rapidly growing dunes that are driven by the harsh west wind. The same is true of Mårup Church. It will not be many years before it has fallen into the sea, because the dune on which the church and graveyard were constructed is gradually being swallowed by the billowing North Sea. Already several of the graves have toppled into the water.
Skallerup Klit Holiday Centre has recently opened a very attractive wellness facility, where you can pamper your body and soul for a couple of hours. The Roman Baths in Skallerup Klit offer a wonderful sensuous experience in an adult, “silent” area, where your stress and strain disappear and you achieve an inner peace.
The Romulus baths were inspired by the impressive ancient baths that were built throughout the Roman Empire. You can combine your visit to Romulus with a sensuous massage, by one of Romulus’ trained masseurs.
Your trip to Lønstrup can also include a visit to the North Sea Museum in Hirsthals, which provides a living and very detailed picture of life in the North Sea. It is really interesting to observe the divers, who several times a day, swim down into the vast Oceanarium to feed the fish, while visitors on the other side of the glass watch and marvel at the thousands of fish, in all shapes and colours, swimming round in the enormous aquarium.

Whitches and whores
This is one of the many themes offered by Det Hem’lige Teater (the “Secret Theatre”) to groups of up to 30, when they take them on a 60 – 90-minute long journey back in time and dramatise, in the form of tableaux, the history of the city of Aalborg. A very effective presentation of our history, that is available both in Danish and in English.
These city walkabouts can be combined with almost any kind of event. They can be arranged just before dinner or late in the evening, illuminated by torches, which lend an even more authentic atmosphere.
